Putting Nutritional Therapies to the Test
Clinical trials are research studies designed to test a hypothesis. Therefore, they require a clearly defined hypothesis and clearly defined inclusion/exclusion criteria. Examples of clinical trials include crossover design studies, and control or other multiple-arm studies. Clinical trials lead to the preparation and submission of research articles to peer-reviewed journals and provide data for analysis of effectiveness of nutritional and botanical interventions.
The clinical research arm of Metagenics, The Functional Medicine Research CenterSM (FMRC), comprises an expert team of medical doctors, chiropractors, and nutritionists who are familiar with the latest developments in testing and treatment in natural medicine therapies. Clinical trials at the FMRC are conducted under the FDA's Good Clinical Practice and IRB guidelines. On-site human clinical trials are only part of the active research agenda pursued along with individual case management studies (ICMs), proprietary in-house studies, and collaborative studies with healthcare organizations in the private and public sectors around the world.
